@ The Port Theatre on Front St. ART MAKES US presentation…

Our Founder Danica Reyes (Coach Danica) attended the wonderful “Art Makes Us” presentation by the Vancouver Art Gallery hosted by the Nanaimo Art Gallery at the Port Theatre this past Oct. 18th. Having already learned of the new building which will is scheduled to be completed in 2021 by the Swiss Architecture Firm Herzog & de Meuron she wanted to learn more…

Here are a few of her notes:

  • 18-20% of Permanent Collection will be shown
  • Temporary Spaces for Regional Galleries
  • Education Facilities
  • Presently 30,000 School age children through the doors per year @ VAG
  • The New Vancouver Art Gallery will host a 360 seat Performance Center
  • Research Center
  • Outdoor Space
  • Presently 40,000 members
  • “Entire Community to Participate, Can’t do it alone” – most of the funding is coming from the Province and Federal Government but they will continue to require support from all of us, the people of BC.

Vancouver Art Gallery – VAG and the Nanaimo Art Gallery – NAG truly are on a mission to advance Canadian Art and Art Education of the Canadian Public, similar to the mission at LAG – the Lantzville Art Gallery; simply on a much grander scale. It’s up to those of us in the Arts to spread the word, activate engagement.

For the Love of Art continue to create, inspire and evolve!

Visit galleries and museums often and remember

“Art – to be bought when loved.”

– Coach Danica
